Upper Elementary (3rd-6th)

Building independence through meaningful learning

Growing confident, capable learners

Our Upper Elementary program builds on strong academic foundations while helping students grow into independent, confident learners. Students are challenged to think deeply, collaborate with peers, and take greater ownership of their learning—with guidance and support from teachers every step of the way.

Reading & Comprehension

Students strengthen reading comprehension by analyzing texts, discussing ideas, and reading across subjects, including science and social studies. Emphasis is placed on understanding, evidence, and thoughtful discussion.

Writing & Communication

Writing instruction focuses on organizing ideas, developing strong sentences and paragraphs, and communicating clearly. Students write for different purposes, including explanations, stories, opinions, and research-based projects.

Math

Math instruction emphasizes understanding, reasoning, and problem-solving. Students explore multiple strategies, explain their thinking, and tackle increasingly complex problems with confidence.

Science, Engineering & Exploration

Science and engineering are taught through hands-on investigations, experiments, and design challenges. Students test ideas, analyze results, and apply their learning through real-world problem-solving.

Independence, Leadership & Responsibility

Students gradually take on more responsibility for their work, develop leadership skills, and learn how to manage their time, collaborate with peers, and reflect on their progress.

Support & Structure

Even as expectations increase, students continue to receive close support from teachers who know them well. Small class sizes allow for meaningful feedback, guidance, and strong relationships.
